2Kings 5:3 “And She said unto her mistress, Would God my lord were with the prophet that is in Samaria! for he would recover him of his leprosy.”
Happy New Year to you all. The year will yield her increase to you. You will soar higher and enjoy the rest of God. For things to really happen for you this New Year, YOU have got to make them happen. The year holds lot of promises ad prospects for YOU but you have got to actualize them through the right mind-set.
Let’s look at the mind-set of this Hebrew maid.
The Syrian army have gone to war with Israel and conquered the army of Israel. In the process, a little girl was one of their captive. Naaman, the captain and chief of army staff of the Syrian army, was a great man of valour, but was a leper. The leprosy was a stigma in his life and family. I am sure he would have seen the best physicians of his time without any solution. The Syrian government would have also spent tax payer’s money to get the best treatment for him around the world but all resulted in him having to manage his health challenge.
Every day, as this little maid waited on Naaman’s wife, her mind-set was on how to get her lord to prophet Elisha in Samaria. All she could think of are the wonders and miracles of God to His people in Israel. She wanted help for the Syrians even when it was obvious that they were the enemies of Israel.
She did not see herself as Slave but she saw herself as a Solution
She did not see herself as Imprisoned but she saw herself as Inspired to Impact lives
She did not fill her heart with Hatred but she saw herself as Helper of Destiny
She did not see herself as a Foreigner but she saw herself as part of the Family of Naaman
She did not see herself in a Wrong Place but she saw herself in the Right Place Fulfilling Purpose
Friends, there is much to learn from this little girl Mind-set. You need to think deep to get those life lessons. What would you have done if you find yourself in her condition?
What kind of mind-set do you manifest towards your employer, neighbours, family members, co-workers, business partners, leaders, strangers, even enemies (Roms 12:20)?
“And many lepers were in Israel in the time of Eliseus/Elisha the prophet; and none of them was cleansed, saving Naaman the Syrian.” Luke 4: 27
The above scripture speaks volume. May you possess the spirit of understanding. How we have limited ourselves and others because of our mind-set? This little maid made history through the Manifestation of her mind. People are halting, crying, in pains, in sorrow, and they need your help. Are you willing to help? You never can tell the impact you are making today with your mind-set, the positive effect it will make in the lives of people and it could become a reference point for generations to come.
Are you transforming lives by your daily lifestyle?
Are you a blessing to somebody?
Are you helping to change the destiny of people for better?
Are you empowering people?
Are you adding value to others?
Are you influencing lives positively?
Are you paying it forward?
Impacting others will be a function of the things we manifest. If you think and dwell on hatred, you will manifest hatred. If you think love, you will manifest love. If you manifest poverty, you will attract poverty and live in poverty.
Thanks to the parents of this little maid who helped in the transformation of her mind. Thanks to the teachings about the values of God that she learnt from the tabernacle and temples. Thanks for all the positive influence she has received from neighbours around her before going into captivity. Thanks to this little maid who did not live her life in complaints, sorrow, accusing God for allowing her and other Jews to go into captivity. She trusted God. She knew what God could prevent in His power, He allow in His wisdom. She saw her captivity as an opportunity to be the light in darkness, a salt to sweeten the bitterness in the lives of others.
“And be not conformed to this world but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect will of God.” Romans 12:2
Your Mind Makes You. Nothing changes until your mind changes
“But without thy mind would I do nothing.” Philemon 1:14
This little maid, was mindful of Naaman’s condition. That true manifestation of her mind, eventually brought healing to her master’s leprosy. How we need a transformed life and mind today. We must take the challenge to look away from our predicament, and focus on helping others with the opportunities around us. Though nothing was said about the favour and reward that Naaman gave to this little girl that saved him from leprosy, but our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ referred to how the mind-set of this maid brought healing to the leprosy of Naaman out of all the lepers in Israel.
At age 13, Dr Myles Munroe cried to God at 3:00am and asked Him to explain to him “Why they were poor as a family? God’s answer to him was simple; God said because of your MIND…..
I pray for you today, that your mind will not limit you in this New Year. Your mind will express grace to display the faithfulness of God in your life and family in Jesus name, amen
