Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross Colossians 2:14
We often let past problems and mistakes form our outlook and approach to the future. Many people think they can’t enter the future without the past looming over them like a dark cloud. They expect their future to be hindered or altered somehow because of it. However, God can take the problems of the past, reshape them, and make it so they aren’t relevant to our future. Colossians 2:14 says Jesus took the incriminating evidence against us and nailed it to the cross. The verse says, “and took it out of the way.” In other words, Jesus has taken our sins, failures, weakness, and problems out of our way so we are able to say of the past, “IT’S NOT RELEVANT!”
You don’t have to make your past relevant to your future. It doesn’t have to be a factor in formulating your outlook and actions for the upcoming year. If you need to repent and come clean in some areas, then do it now so you can leave last year in last year. Daily receive grace to say no to sin (John 8:10-11, Titus 2:11-12).Then start expecting something new and wonderful to be on the horizon. Start saying of your negative past boldly, “IT’S NOT RELEVANT!” Keep saying it! Don’t stop saying and shame the enemy of your soul.
Lord Jesus, as this year comes to a close, I repent of all sins. Forgive me and reshape my future. I thank you that Jesus took my sins, weakness, frustrations and problems out of the way. I look for a bright new year to come, and I say of my negative past, “IT’S NOT RELEVANT!” in Jesus name, amen
